The history of this brand is born from prohibition. It was 1900 when the USA made a huge request for brandy from Portugal. As no operator wanted to take the risk, the CR&F company came up with a highly innovative proposal for the sector in Portugal. Together with the American client, the Kaiser was born. The bottles were all sent to their destination. However, shortly afterwards, the 1920 Dry Law began and many of these bottles were returned to Portugal. With this prohibition and without exporting the product, the company decided to change the name to 1920, in homage to this peculiar year, maintaining the same quality. The brandy 1920 gained enormous prominence in European countries, becoming one of the best-selling brandies in Portugal.
