Quinta das Arcas was formed in the 1980s by Esteves Monteiro, following work begun in the previous decade to restructure the family's agriculture, with a strong focus on land consolidation and the implementation of modern viticulture. In 1985 he founded the company, launching the first bottles under the Arca Nova brand.

Throughout this time, the company paid special attention to the production area, following an early path of quality improvement minimizing the impact on nature. In 2012, and already with about 200 hectares of vineyards in the Vinho Verde Region, Quinta das Arcas launches its first organic wine on the market.
